Wheels for Seals at the Marine Mammal Stranding Center

November 07, 2017

Based in Brigantine, New Jersey, the Marine Mammal Stranding Center (MMSC) respond to calls when injured marine animals wash ashore on the state’s beaches. Over the years, they have come to the aid of over 4,000 seals, dolphins, whales, and sea turtles stranded on the shore. Using a specialized transport vehicle, they have rescued and transported 39 seals and 20 dolphins in 2017 alone – their most recent rescue, a grey seal in August.

The center also provides events and programs to educate the public on how to save and preserve marine wildlife. As a non-profit organization, they depend on donations to keep going, and are currently raising funds for a new specialized transport vehicle. On "Giving Tuesday" this November 28th, the center is hosting Wheels for Seals, which they hope will provide the funds needed to purchase their new transport vehicle. To make a donation, or "adopt a seal" for only $25, call the center at (609) 266-0538 or click here.
